Leather is one of the most widely used materials in the production of clothing, bags, shoes, and furniture, which is produced in a variety of colors. Leather has costly raw material and its sewing requires a lot of skill, so leather products are always very expensive that need to be cared for and maintained. Leather is sensitive to moisture, and if sustained in a dark, damp place, a variety of bacteria and fungi may grow on its surface. Besides, sitting dust on bags and shoes or other leather products reduces the lifespan of these goods. Contamination on the leather surfaces, in addition to suffocation of the surface, causes premature erosion and destruction of surface molecules, and if the surface becomes wet, it causes dryness, flaking, and surface cracks. Various methods are used to clean and maintain the shine and quality of leather, such as the use of liquid or solid waxes, and Vaseline. On the other hand, the use of detergents for leather surfaces is not recommended because it leads to the destruction of the leather polymer chain and destroys it. The use of herbal tonics, in addition to protecting and cleaning the surface, preserves the natural lifespan of the leather and, due to the inherent aroma of the extracts used in it, provides a high fragrance. One way to control the growth of bacteria on the surface of leather products is to utilize nanoparticles in the wax composition to create antibacterial properties.
